We focus on free games. We believe that games should be for everyone and we want to entertain the widest possible audience. All of our games will be available to download for free and, more important than anything else, we care about an amazing player experience.

A little update from Seriously

June 26th 2014

As we build out a world class creative team, we are excited to share some news.

Firstly, we’re pleased to announce that Philip Hickey has joined as Vice President, Marketing & Communications. Philip will be responsible for marketing our properties, beginning with our first title later in the summer. Philip joins from Rovio where he led marketing strategy and execution across the company.

We’re also thrilled that Petri Räsänen has joined Seriously as Game Artist. Petri is a talented game and technical artist, and was part of the team at mobile game developer Rocketpack which was acquired by The Walt Disney Company in 2011.

Additionally, two advisors have joined the Seriously team.

Dan Romanelli brings extensive entertainment franchise and retail experience to Seriously. Dan was Founder and President of Warner Bros Worldwide Consumer Products where he built that division into a business that generated over $50 billion in worldwide retail sales under his leadership. Dan and his team were responsible for the consumer product programs for multiple Warner properties including Looney Tunes, Scooby Doo, Batman, Superman and Harry Potter.

On joining the advisory team, Dan said: ‘It takes a blend of hard work and creative inspiration to build a property that can grace the world stage. I’m impressed with the DNA of the Seriously team and excited about the opportunity they have to build mobile first entertainment brands as audiences migrate to smartphones and tablets. I look forward to supporting them.’

Ujjal Kohli brings comprehensive mobile, entrepreneurial and venture capital experience to Seriously. Most recently, Ujjal was CEO and co-founder at Rhythm New Media which sold to BlinkX. Among other roles, Ujjal was also CMO for AirTouch Cellular, which later formed part of Verizon Wireless.

On joining the advisory team, Ujjal said: ‘I admire the company’s entrepreneurial gusto and determination to tackle a very big opportunity, and, having spent the past eight years successfully building a mobile entertainment business myself, hope some of my experience can help the team at Seriously achieve their goals.’

And lastly, we’re pleased to share that Seriously closed a $2.65M ‘Series Seed B’ round of financing which will be invested into content development and further building out the team. The round was led by current investors Sunstone Capital and Upfront Ventures, and adding Daher Capital as a new investor. Seriously’s total seed raise stands at $5M.

Meet the Team

Our superstar team has backgrounds at amazing companies like Rovio, NaturalMotion, 20th Century Fox, Disney, and Remedy to name a few. We’ve shipped a multitude of hit games on a myriad of platforms. We’ve led product development, design, Studios and Business Units. We’ve negotiated industry leading commercial deals and directed large scale marketing campaigns. We know how hard it is to build and design the best brands in the world. And now we’re creating something completely new!

Everyone on the founding team has 10+ years of experience on the leading edge of their respective fields. The highlights of all of our careers have been when we’ve worked as part of a team to develop content for properties like Angry Birds, Clumsy Ninja, The Simpsons and Max Payne. Combined, the games we’ve worked on have been downloaded more than 2 billion times (no doubling up!).

Andrew Stalbow

CEO

Based in Los Angeles, Andrew is responsible for company strategy and business development. Formerly EVP Strategic Partnerships at Rovio and SVP Mobile at 20th Century Fox.

Petri Järvilehto

CHIEF CREATIVE OFFICER

Based in Helsinki, Petri is responsible for product and content development. Formerly EVP Games at Rovio, and Co-Founder and Creative Director at Remedy.

Reko Ukko

VICE PRESIDENT, GAME DESIGN

As lead game designer, Reko has spent the majority of his career designing games. He worked on Clumsy Ninja and led the design team at NaturalMotion, as well as shipped successful titles at Remedy and Digital Chocolate.

Tommi Kiviniemi

VICE PRESIDENT, TECHNOLOGY

Tommi builds great technology that enables fast content creation and rapid iteration. With a background in triple-A game development, he co-founded Rocket Pack in 2010, which was acquired by The Walt Disney Company in 2011, where Tommi worked for 2 years.

Serdar Soganci

VICE PRESIDENT, PRODUCTION

Serdar is responsible for production. Former Head of Studio at Rovio, he started working in the games industry in 2003 and joined Digital Chocolate as a Lead Game Programmer in 2004.

Samuli Viikinen

LEAD LEVEL DESIGNER

Samuli is responsible for level design. He worked on titles such as Max Payne and Alan Wake at Remedy, and most recently worked at Recoil where he led the design for critically acclaimed Rochard and Rock Runners.

Juha Matikainen

GENERAL MANAGER, FINLAND

Juha runs the business operations in Finland. Previously CFO at Grey Area and also currently on the advisory board at TEKES. Juha’s expertise lies in finance, budgeting, HR and operations.

Miguel Fransisco

LEAD CHARACTER & CONCEPT ARTIST

Miguel is responsible for character and concept art. Most recently he led character design on the phenomenally successful Angry Birds brand, designing birds and pigs for titles such as Angry Birds, Bad Piggies and Angry Birds Star Wars.

Andrea Fryer

LEAD GAME ARTIST

With 15+ years of experience in games and visual design, Andrea has been leading art and UI design on a multitude of successful casual/social/mobile releases at companies like RedLynx and Digital Chocolate. Her latest work can be seen in #1 iOS hit title Trials Frontier.

Peter Tokoi

HEAD OF QUALITY ASSURANCE

With over 30 shipped titles on 10+ platforms Peter has a vast amount of experience leading uncompromising Quality Assurance on games reaching hundreds of millions of downloads. His background includes leading QA teams at Rovio and Digital Chocolate.

Petri Räsänen

GAME ARTIST

Formerly from Rocket Pack (acquired by The Walt Disney Company), Petri has experience on game and concept art for both social and mobile games. In addition to his extensive 2D/3D visual skillset, he is also a highly competent technical artist experienced with various game development tools and engines.

Philip is responsible for marketing and communications at Seriously. With more than 10 years of experience on mobile, Philip was most recently responsible for heading the marketing strategy and execution at Rovio.

Johannes Ahvenniemi

GAME PROGRAMMER

Johannes entered the games industry as an indie web game developer with 15+ published titles reaching tens of millions of players. At Rovio he worked as programmer on Angry Birds as well as other titles in development.
