5 Questions With…Sylvain Cunzi
1. Where were you/what did you do before working at Seriously?
While I started my career in financial software at Reuters, I’ve been programming games since I first came across a computer in the early 80s. I’ve been in the games industry for 15 years now and since I moved from France to Finland seven years ago, I’ve worked at Rovio and Next Games as Technical Director.
2. What is your current role at Seriously?
As the VP of Game Technology, my role is to evaluate tools and help the teams use them as effectively as possible. My day to day tasks are quite varied, from investigating problems and chasing bugs to adding a new feature in our servers to building a new tool for the Best Fiends team.
3. What’s your favorite part about your job?
Technology is constantly evolving and I love learning and understanding how we can make the best use of it. It is always a different challenge, especially now that games are operated as a service: we have a direct connection with our players and there is always something to make better. It’s immensely rewarding to see how these improvements are received day after day.
4. Who is your favorite Fiend or Slug and why?
Edward is my favourite Fiend because he becomes hypersonic after you complete his quest!
5. When you are not working at Seriously or playing Best Fiends, what do you enjoy doing?
When I’m not behind a screen playing games (mostly strategy and flight simulation) or toying with new hardware and technology, you will probably find me skiing in the Alps or windsurfing in exotic countries. I love to travel and discover new places and cultures, but at the same time I also enjoy staying inside watching movies or playing board games.
