5 Questions With…Anastasia Shevchenko

5 Questions with Anastasia Shevchenko

1. Where were you/what did you do before working at Seriously?
I actually always wanted to become a teacher. I even went to study education and pursued a degree to teach elementary school. After I finished studying, my career took a turn and I started working at a company in Player Support. Growing up, I had always played games casually, such as EA’s Need for Speed and Sims! I realized I really knew nothing about the industry behind-the-scenes until I started in Player Support. During this time, I found that I really enjoyed working in games and helping other players. Slowly I moved up into different roles becoming a Quality Analyst, then a Team Leader, and eventually a Supervisor. Around the same time, I also grew passionate about Clash Royale and started to learn more about Finland and how many game development studios are based here.

2. What is your current role at Seriously?
I’m a Player Support Specialist. I work as part of a team that tries to figure out the best ways to provide help to our players. When playing Best Fiends, sometimes players might need to ask questions or offer feedback about the game or a level. That’s where my team and I come in. If you send a message asking for some help, I’ll do my absolute best to help. I also keep an eye on our Russian community on VK, where I answer questions, too.

3. What’s your favorite part about your job?
Imagine a bridge. On one side, you have all the players in the world who enjoy playing our games. On the other side is our whole team, including game developers, programmers, level designers, game testers, data analysts, artists, and everyone else trying to create the best Best Fiends experience. In order to create this great experience, there needs to be communication between the two. I feel like I’m the bridge that’s connecting both sides to build that amazing experience, and that’s my favorite part about my job. It’s both challenging and fun at the same time! Of course, working with an awesome team while doing it adds to the pleasure of the job.

4. Who is your favorite Fiend or Slug and why?
Howie is my first favorite Fiend. I found it really funny how his accent changed, and I remember laughing a lot the first time I heard him. Another one of my favorite characters is a chubby Slug that’s actually not in the game right now. I saw him in the form of a sticker one morning in our kitchen area, and he hasn’t left my heart since then! He was unbelievably cute, and I really hope he makes it into the game one day!

5. When you are not working at Seriously or playing Best Fiends, what do you enjoy doing?
I really like to exercise and I always make an effort to live a healthy lifestyle. I consider myself extremely lucky that Helsinki is very close to nature because I love going on walks and runs with my boyfriend through the forests or by the sea and lakes. I also go to a ton of Ashtanga yoga classes. It’s a very hard practice, but I enjoy the progress I see over time. I also have a long list of places on my “to-visit” list, and whenever I get some free time, I’m definitely going to be crossing them off!
